Bárbara Goy, visual artist from São Paulo

Bárbara Goy is a self-taught Brazilian visual artist, born and based in São Paulo. She started painting on canvas in 2002, and since 2014 she has taken the work outdoors: building gables, façades, exterior walls, interiors, vehicles and live painting at events.

From canvas to wall

It began in 2002, on canvas, with no art school and no teacher. In 2014 came the turn to graffiti, and with it a change of scale. Going from an easel to a ten-storey gable changes what a painting can do: the work stops waiting for someone to walk into a room and starts meeting people who were only crossing the street.

The city is the canvas.

What she paints

The work moves between figuration and abstraction, and the themes recur until you can recognise them anywhere: the mystical, nature and the feminine. Women's faces at architectural scale, hair that unfolds into wide bands of colour, tropical foliage, animals, geometry in blocks. Colour goes on flat and side by side — green against magenta, blue against yellow — with no half-tone to soften the meeting.

Reza a Lenda

Reza a Lenda — Brazilian Portuguese for "legend has it" — is the series that gathers the mystical and the feminine into a body of work of its own. In November 2025 it gave its name to the artist's first solo exhibition, on Avenida Brigadeiro Luís Antônio in São Paulo. In 2026 the work moved on to the Sala-oratório, in the Aclimação district.

Murals on commission

Bárbara paints on commission for residential buildings, brands, schools, cultural spaces and events. Past projects include GOL Linhas Aéreas, Nike Dom Pedro (Campinas), the Beba Mais Leite campaign, studio HT and Etec, alongside studios and private homes.

Every project runs through four stages:

  • Briefing — a conversation about the wall and the place it lives in, by form, WhatsApp or site visit.
  • Study and proposal — a colour study over a photograph of the wall, a schedule, and a fixed quote covering paint, equipment and crew.
  • Execution — painting from a platform, on ropes or from scaffolding depending on the height; 2 days to 3 weeks.
  • Documented handover — the finished piece signed and recorded in photo and video, drone included, for the client's own use.

Work to take home

Beyond the murals, the artist sells signed prints, hand-repainted statues and one-off original works, shipped straight from the studio, through the shop.
